Fuerteventura is unlike any other Canary Island. Here, the wind sculpts golden dunes that tumble toward an almost unreal blue sea, the air carries salt and warm stone, and the light, even in January, makes you squint. It is in this mineral, luminous setting, in Caleta de Fuste, that the Ôclub Select Barceló Castillo Beach Resort has made its home, nestled between the sea and a small marina. The resort draws on the architectural codes of Canarian villages, low whitewashed volumes, terracotta-tiled rooftops, flowering gardens, creating a Mediterranean holiday atmosphere without ever slipping into the anonymity of a high-rise beach hotel.
Arrival
Bags are dropped in one of 301 studios or bungalows spread across the resort's landscaped gardens in quiet, low-rise rows that never exceed two storeys, giving an immediate sense of space and calm. The 40 m² Deluxe Studios accommodate two adults, or two adults and one child, and come with a private balcony or terrace, a kitchenette with microwave, fridge and electric kettle, a flat-screen TV with satellite channels and air conditioning. For larger families, the 52 m² Superior Bungalows provide a genuine separation between the living and dining area and the bedroom, sleeping up to three adults and one child, or two adults and two children. Some units are adapted for guests with reduced mobility, available on request.
The beach of La Guirra lies around 850 metres from the resort, reachable on foot along the seafront promenade. This coastal walkway is a pleasure in itself, fishermen, sea breeze, the Atlantic stretching west. Two golf courses, Salinas de Antigua and Fuerteventura Golf Club, are both around 3 kilometres away.
Dining, all included
The all-inclusive dining experience centres on the Mafasca restaurant, a large main dining room whose terrace opens onto sea views. All three daily meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner, are served here, with a selection of drinks and snacks included in the package. The terrace light shifts beautifully from golden morning to soft evening. For a more casual midday stop, the La Perlita restaurant-bar serves pizzas, sandwiches, tarts and ice cream with the sea as backdrop. In the evenings, La Dolce Vita welcomes guests for an à la carte Italian menu in a carefully decorated setting. Poolside, the Marea Pool Bar keeps swimmers fuelled with snacks and ice cream, while La Goleta does the same near the marina. The Hanami Asian restaurant is also available on site but operates on an à la carte, pay-per-visit basis.
We recommend verifying the exact all-inclusive inclusions directly with the hotel or your tour operator, as they may vary depending on the travel period and room type booked.
Days by the water
Three seawater pools anchor the daytime rhythm at the resort. One is heated during the winter months, making the resort just as enjoyable in November as in August. Sun loungers and parasols are available on the solarium deck, with pool towels provided against a deposit. The Marea Pool Bar sits within easy reach so a cold drink or an ice cream is never far away.
The sports offer is broad and unhurried. Aqua gym, dance, pilates, stretching, fitness classes, tennis, beach volleyball, archery, darts, table tennis, paddle and a multisports court are all part of the programme. Water sports including surfing, catamaran and scuba diving, including beginner and advanced courses organised by the hotel, are available on site at an additional cost. Minigolf, billiards and table football are also available for a fee.
The 3,000 m² spa and wellness area is a genuine highlight. It brings together outdoor and indoor seawater pools with hydromassage jets, a thermal circuit, sauna, hammam, sensory showers, several treatment rooms and a well-equipped fitness suite. Access is restricted to guests aged 16 and over. Treatments and therapies are offered at an additional charge.
Evening vibes
As the sun drops into the Atlantic, the resort shifts gear. The Show Factory sport bar and theatre, positioned next to the marina, takes over with live music, themed evenings, karaoke, concerts, sports broadcasts, tournaments and group competitions that bring families and couples together with equal ease. Signature Ôclub moments, the apérÔclub social hour and the Nuit Blanche Ôclub among others, add a layer of genuine conviviality that lifts the evening programme beyond the standard resort entertainment formula.
Who is it for?
The Barceló Castillo Beach Resort is thoughtfully set up for families with children. The Ômini Club welcomes children aged 4 to 12, six days a week throughout the season, with dedicated French-speaking supervision during French school holidays. Activities for children include arts and crafts, games, table tennis, pool time and a playground. Once a week, the Ômini Club evening ends with a mini-disco, a favourite with kids and a welcome break for parents.
That said, couples and seniors seeking a calm, well-organised resort with a serious spa, reliable sunshine and easy access to two golf courses will find the property equally suited to their needs. Those keen to explore beyond the resort gates will discover the Corralejo dunes natural park, the historic village of Betancuria and the natural rock pools of Caleta de Fuste, the latter featured in the resort's own guided discovery walks.

The cherry on top
The one detail that stands out: all three pools are filled with seawater, a rare choice that gives swimming a softer, more mineral feel and makes it genuinely hard to choose between the pool and the beach.
