Some hotels look like hotels, and then there is the Seabel Alhambra Beach. From the entrance, the tone is set immediately: whitewashed archways, bougainvillea spilling over the paths, ancient olive trees filtering the morning light. Eleven hectares of greenery stretching along the Mediterranean at Port El Kantaoui, with a 36-hole golf course as a backdrop. This is not just another Tunisian beach hotel. It is an Andalusian retreat on the coast of Sousse.

Arrival

The neo-Moorish architecture of the Alhambra is not mere decoration. The moment you step through the doors, the zellige tilework, mashrabiya screens and shaded patios create an atmosphere that evokes Granada as much as Tunis. The 225 recently renovated rooms are distributed across bungalows set within the park, giving the whole property the feel of a village rather than a hotel block. Standard rooms measure 34 sqm and come with a terrace or balcony, LCD television, air conditioning in summer and heating in winter according to the hotel's seasonal schedule. The bathroom includes a shower and hairdryer. For larger families, family rooms accommodating up to six people are available at no extra charge, a genuinely rare and welcome feature. Superior rooms are also available for guests seeking additional comfort, at a supplement. Wifi is available in communal areas. The front desk offers currency exchange, an ATM and a laundry service available at an extra charge. Babysitting can be arranged on request, also with a supplement.

Dining, all included

The main restaurant is called Grenade, and it carries its Andalusian name with pride. Meals are served as buffets three times a day: breakfast from 6:30 to 10:00, lunch from 12:30 to 14:00, and dinner from 19:00 to 21:00, with an earlier opening at 18:30 for children. Each week, three themed buffets bring variety to dinner evenings: Italian, Tunisian and fisherman's catch. It is during these themed evenings that the local cuisine truly shines, with fresh fish and spices that fill the dining room and spill out onto the terrace. Local drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are served without limit, as are snacks between meals. The Active pool bar offers a late breakfast from 10:00 to 12:00 and an afternoon snack from 16:00 to 18:00, featuring crêpes, pizza, pastries and cakes, which is particularly appreciated by families with children. For something different, the à-la-carte restaurant Nomad is available at an extra charge. Three bars serve guests throughout the day: the Cordoue, the main bar open 24 hours a day, and the beach bar Zen and the pool bar Active, both open during the season. Please note that fresh fruit juices, imported spirits, cocktails and bottled or canned drinks are not included in the all-inclusive package. We recommend verifying the details of the all-inclusive offer directly on the Seabel website, as inclusions may vary depending on the season and room type.

Days by the water

Six pools. That figure alone captures the aquatic ambition of the Alhambra. There is the main pool with dedicated basins for children and babies, a pool positioned right next to the beach for easy movement between the freshwater and the Mediterranean, and a covered heated pool with its own children's basin, heated from November to March for off-season stays. This last option is a genuine advantage for guests travelling in winter who refuse to give up on swimming. The private beach is edged by the park, giving it a sense of intimacy and shelter. On the activity side, the offering is wide: 11 hard-surface tennis courts, pétanque, archery, table tennis, beach volleyball, football, basketball and volleyball, aerobics, gymnastics, modern dance and oriental dance. An animation team runs the programme throughout the day. Motorised water sports are available on site but come at an additional cost. The golf course deserves a special mention. The 36-hole course designed by Ronald Fream runs directly alongside the hotel, making it one of the few Tunisian beach resorts with genuine access to the greens from the property itself. Access to the course is chargeable. The spa stretches across 2,000 sqm and includes 20 treatment cabins, an infinity pool with a hot tub, a hammam with algae wrap and scrub cabins, a herbal tea lounge, a daylit relaxation room and a boutique. Access to the spa facilities and treatments requires an additional payment. Specific wellness programmes are offered for stays between November and March, such as the three-day Florale cure starting from 200 euros per person, bookable only before departure.

Evening vibes

As the sun drops behind the olive trees, the Cordoue bar naturally becomes the evening gathering point. Open 24 hours a day, it sets the tone for relaxed nights. The animation team puts on shows each evening, following a natural progression from the day's activities that feels earned after long hours in the sun. The themed dinner evenings at the Grenade restaurant also create genuinely convivial moments at the table, where guests tend to linger. The overall atmosphere stays relaxed and unhurried, in keeping with a hotel designed for rest as much as entertainment.

Who is it for?

The Seabel Alhambra Beach is built with families in mind. The mini-club welcomes children aged 4 to 12 every day from 9:00 to 12:30 and again from 15:00 to 17:30, with a varied programme including pool games, beach activities, face painting and mini-disco. The dedicated baby pools, the family rooms free of charge for up to six people and the private beach make this a genuinely reassuring choice for parents. That said, the hotel also speaks clearly to couples travelling in the off-season, drawn by the spa, the winter wellness programmes and the golf. Seniors will appreciate the heated covered pool and the peaceful, tree-lined park during the quieter months. This is a versatile property that avoids being generic, finding its identity in the Andalusian character of its architecture and the richness of its grounds.

The cherry on top

The one thing that sets it apart: the heated indoor pool makes the Seabel Alhambra Beach a genuinely compelling choice in winter, when most beach hotels in the region close or scale back significantly. A real advantage for travellers seeking Tunisian sunshine without giving up on swimming.
