Mahdia is one of Tunisia's quieter coastal gems, offering a particular quality of light: golden in the morning, almost copper-toned in late afternoon as it skims the Mediterranean. It is here that the Mondi Club Thalassa Mahdia Aquapark has made its home, spreading across 3 hectares of greenery between the sea and its pools. Days here organise themselves naturally, between the rush of water down the waterslides and the hushed calm of the thalassotherapy centre. You come to let go, and that is exactly what happens.

Arrival

The shared transfer from Monastir International Airport, 55 km away, is organised and straightforward: about an hour along the Tunisian coastline, enough time to feel your shoulders begin to drop. The hotel welcomes guests into a 233-room property spread across three low-rise floors within a shaded park where the heat becomes manageable almost immediately. Reception operates 24 hours a day, free wifi covers the entire complex, and parking is available on site. Standard rooms measure approximately 24 m², with a balcony or terrace, air conditioning from 15 June to 15 September, heating from November to March, satellite television, and a bathroom with a bathtub and hairdryer. They comfortably accommodate two adults and one child, or three adults. Families of four have access to a 32 m² family room with the necessary space. Some rooms, at a supplement, overlook the sea, a view that earns its extra cost particularly at sunrise when the Mediterranean takes on its first colours. In-room telephone, mini-fridge and safe are available on request or at an additional charge, worth factoring in when planning your stay. Rooms are available from 14:00, in line with international hotel standards.

Dining, all included

The all-inclusive formula structures your days without imposing on them. The main restaurant serves meals as a buffet, alternating between local Tunisian flavours and international dishes. Breakfast runs from 7:30 to 10:00, with a late option until 11:00 for those who need a full night before rejoining the world. Lunch is served from 12:30 to 14:30, dinner from 18:30 to 21:30. A snack is available between 16:00 and 17:00, and a late-night snack is served at the reception bar from 22:30 to 23:00. Local drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic, are included in the formula and served from 8:00 to midnight, with alcoholic drinks available from 10:00 onwards. Fresh fruit juices, imported beverages, cocktails and bottled drinks are not included in the formula. The reception bar is open from 10:00 to midnight, the pool bar runs from May to October between 10:00 and 18:00, and the Café Maure opens from 15:00 to midnight for a more relaxed, oriental-style break. Once per stay, by reservation, the à la carte restaurant serves three distinct menus: Tunisian, Italian and fisherman's, available from 19:00 to 22:00. This is a welcome change of pace from the buffet and a genuine opportunity to explore Tunisian cuisine in a more considered setting. Note that outdoor restaurants and bars operate subject to weather conditions and season, and opening hours may change without prior notice. We recommend verifying all-inclusive inclusions directly with your JustRelax advisor, as details may vary by season and room type.

Days by the water

Water is everywhere at the Thalassa Mahdia, and that is precisely its central appeal. The private beach borders the complex with sunbeds and parasols included in the formula. The central pool anchors the heart of the property, complemented by a dedicated children's pool and two indoor pools open from 9:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 17:00, one of which is filled with seawater. The aquapark, with its five waterslides, generates cheerful noise throughout the day and appeals to adults just as much as children. Included land activities cover aerobics, stretching, pétanque, volleyball, table tennis, archery, basketball, five-a-side football and water polo. Mini-golf is also accessible on site. Tennis courts are available with equipment rental at an additional cost. From April to October, motorised and non-motorised water sports are available at a supplement: windsurfing, pedal boats, canoeing, water-skiing, catamaran sailing and parasailing. Diving, quad biking and horse riding are available nearby, also at additional cost. The thalassotherapy centre is a genuine asset of the Thalassa Mahdia. Available at a supplement, it offers massages, hammam, jacuzzi, sauna and a range of treatments. A wellness package can even be booked before departure: for €65 per person, it includes a marine bio circuit, hammam, body scrub and a 40-minute relaxing massage, valid for stays up to 31 October 2026. This package cannot be booked on site and must be reserved at the time of booking. A seawater pool is also attached to the thalasso centre.

Evening vibes

After dinner, the hotel does not switch off abruptly. The Café Maure stays open until midnight, offering a natural transition between the table and the evening, with the subdued atmosphere it is known for. The reception bar also runs until midnight, with local drinks included in the all-inclusive formula. The Mondi Club animation team, present throughout the stay, organises evening entertainment alongside the day's activities. The French-speaking resort representative also holds an information meeting early in your stay, a useful session for getting oriented within the hotel and the wider region.

Who is it for?

The Thalassa Mahdia Aquapark is designed for families who want a turnkey holiday without giving up comfort. Children aged 4 to 10 have access to a mini-club open every day from 9:30 to 12:00 and 15:00 to 17:00, supervised by a professional team. They have their own pool near the central pool, a playground and a paddling pool, not to mention the aquapark, which effectively functions as a giant playground. Couples and seniors will appreciate the thalasso dimension of the complex, the relaxed pace of Mahdia, 4 km from the town centre, and the chance to step away from the busier beach resort crowds. El Jem and its ancient amphitheatre, 30 km away, offer a strong cultural excursion for those who want to add a historical dimension to their stay.

The cherry on top

The one thing that stands out: the thalasso wellness package bookable before departure at €65, including hammam, body scrub and a 40-minute massage, genuinely elevates a standard beach holiday into a proper physical reset. Book it at the time of reservation as availability is limited.
