Some hotels simply tick boxes. The Liberty Kusadasi does something more. Opened in 2015 on the Aegean seafront in the Aydin province, an hour's drive from Izmir, it embodies a generous Turkish take on five-star hospitality: large, warm and slightly spectacular. As soon as the transfer van turns toward the entrance and you glimpse the blue sea between the palm trees, something in you unwinds. 392 rooms, a private beach, six restaurants including four à la carte, six bars, a spa, a kids' club, water slides, yoga and a late-night buffet until 2 a.m. The Liberty does not do things by halves.

Arrival

The deluxe room covers 42 square metres, which in Turkish hotel terms means you will not be navigating around your suitcases. The double bed or twin beds are generously sized, the balcony opens onto the outside, and the air conditioning responds instantly when summer temperatures climb. The bathroom is fitted with a shower, hairdryer and separate WC. The minibar and electronic safe are standard, and the tea and coffee set is replenished once daily, taking care of a gentle morning start. The room accommodates up to three adults and one child, or two adults and two children, with an extra bed available. It is a genuine advantage for families unwilling to pay for two separate rooms. Four PMR-adapted rooms are available on request, subject to availability. The front desk operates around the clock, and room service does too, available with a supplement. Wi-Fi is available in the rooms, also as an add-on.

Dining, all included

The ultra all-inclusive formula starts at 7 a.m. with breakfast and does not officially close until 2 a.m. with the late-night buffet. In between: late breakfast until 11 a.m., lunch from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., snacks from noon to 5 p.m., pastries available twenty-four hours a day and dinner from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The rhythm is built for guests who enjoy eating, and rightly so. Meals are served buffet-style at the main restaurant, with a rotating selection of international and local cuisine every evening. For a change of scenery from the buffet, four à la carte restaurants are available by reservation from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Seven Restaurant, Mi Restaurant and Lime Mexican Restaurant are included free of charge once for stays of four nights and twice for seven-night stays. The Dolce Vita Italian Restaurant and Yamas Restaurant are available at twenty euros per cover. Six bars round out the offering: Palm Court Bar from 10 a.m. to midnight, Tokyo Bar from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m., Milkshake vs Smoothie Bar from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Penthouse Adult Bar for guests aged 16 and over from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the Booze and Snack Pool Bar from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and the Timeless Bar open twenty-four hours a day. Local alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are included in the ultra all-inclusive formula, served by the glass. Days by the water

The Liberty's greatest asset is its direct seafront position and private beach. Beach towels, sun loungers and parasols are provided, sparing you the morning dash to claim a spot. The outdoor pools, indoor pool, children's pool and water slides offer variety depending on mood or weather. The covered pool is a real advantage in early or late season, when temperatures can be less predictable. In terms of activities, the day can be built around gymnastics, aqua-gym, aqua-dance or yoga, all led by an international entertainment team. Table tennis, darts, basketball and a tennis court with paid evening lighting complete the programme. Water sports are available on site at an additional cost, as is the billiards room. For those who prefer to take it easy, the spa is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and offers a sauna, hammam, indoor pool and fitness room. Treatments and massages are available à la carte, at an extra charge.

Evening vibes

Evenings at the Liberty do not fade out at ten o'clock. The Tokyo Bar runs until 2 a.m., live music fills the common areas, and the kids' club mini-cinema screens films from 9:30 p.m. for the little ones. The international animation team runs evening entertainment including a mini-disco for children. The late-night buffet, open from 11 p.m. to 2 a.m., means night owls can graze without watching the clock. For parents looking to extend the evening, the Penthouse Adult Bar for guests aged 16 and over and the around-the-clock Timeless Bar offer two quite different atmospheres.

Who is it for?

The Liberty Kusadasi is built for families who want everything in one place, without difficult trade-offs. The international kids' club welcomes children aged 4 to 12 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with a dedicated pool, mini-slides, mini-cinema and mini-disco. Parents recover some time to themselves, children are never bored, and everyone reconvenes at dinner without having organised a thing. Couples seeking entertainment and comfort will also find their match, particularly thanks to the Penthouse Adult Bar, the à la carte restaurants and the spa. Seniors will appreciate the private beach with no logistical effort, the well-appointed rooms and the on-site doctor, as well as a French-speaking resort representative who hosts an information meeting at the start of the stay, a genuinely useful way to get oriented in both the hotel and the wider region.
