Some hotels simply face the sea. Others feel like they belong to it. The Lella Baya & Thalasso is firmly in the second camp. Spread across nearly 2 hectares in Yasmine-Hammamet, its 245 ochre-toned rooms with arabesque details sit steps from a fine sandy beach. Tunisia does not present itself here as a postcard, but as a lived experience: the zellige tiles in the lobby, the scent of jasmine drifting past the Moorish café in the evening, the golden light settling on the balconies at dusk.

Arrival

The lobby sets the tone immediately: an oriental aesthetic with warm tones and carefully chosen furnishings, a deliberate counterpoint to the bright white exterior. The front desk operates around the clock, which is genuinely useful for late arrivals from Tunis-Carthage Airport, roughly 70 km away. French is widely spoken by staff, as it is throughout Tunisia. The 245 rooms are distributed across 4 floors, each with a private balcony, satellite TV, direct-dial phone, air conditioning from mid-June to mid-September, central heating from mid-December to end of February, and a bathroom with hairdryer and separate WC. Standard rooms sleep up to 4 guests, with a sofa bed or cot available for triple and quadruple configurations. A sea-view room upgrade is available for a supplement, and the panorama over the bay of Hammamet, particularly at sunrise, makes it a worthwhile consideration. Free wifi is available in the reception area and lobby bar. Note that the in-room safe and mini-fridge are available at an extra charge.

Dining, all included

The all-inclusive formula revolves around generous buffets in the main restaurant, where Tunisian and international dishes share the same table. A continental breakfast is served from 6am for early risers, followed by the full buffet until 10am. Lunch runs from 12:30 to 2pm and dinner from 6:30 to 9pm. In summer, a snack bar bridges the afternoon gap from 12:30 to 5pm, a practical option for beach-bound families. The standout dining experience is the Lellti Tunisian restaurant, open November to May. Once per stay, guests can book a themed Tunisian dinner served at the table from 7 to 9pm, 24 hours in advance at reception. It is a more intimate, sit-down alternative to the buffet rhythm and a genuine highlight of the stay. The lobby bar runs from 9am to 11pm (midnight in summer), while the pool and beach bars operate in season from 10am to 6pm. Alcoholic beverages are included in the all-inclusive formula and served between 10am and 11pm. Canned and bottled drinks, fresh fruit juices and imported spirits are not included. The Moorish Café offers Turkish coffee, tea and hookah from 3pm to 11pm, at an extra charge, as does the Tutti Frutti bar in summer. We recommend verifying the exact all-inclusive inclusions with your booking agent or directly on the reservation documentation, as these may vary by season and room type.

Days by the water

Water defines the rhythm here. The main outdoor pool covers 800 m² and includes a children's section with mini water slides. When the weather cools, the heated indoor pool takes over, open from November 1st to May 31st. The private sandy beach sits directly alongside the property, with sunbeds, loungers and mattresses provided. Beach towels are issued against a 20 TND deposit. The activity programme includes sports tournaments, water polo, pétanque and aerobics classes, all part of the hotel's daily animation schedule. Motorised water sports in summer, quad biking and horse riding are available at an extra charge. The fitness room is on site, though it is worth confirming its inclusion status at the time of booking. The 1,750 m² thalassotherapy centre is one of the hotel's most distinctive assets. The wet area features a hydro-massage pool, affusion showers, jet showers, underwater showers, algotherapy, thalaxion, foot baths and a hammam. The dry area offers massages, aromatherapy, a collective cavitosonic room and a relaxation lounge with two marine Thalasso pods and a herbal tea corner. A beauty space with a hair salon and treatment cabins rounds out the offer. All treatments are at an extra charge, but packaged cure programmes are available from the time of booking for stays through March 31st: the 3-day Bien-être cure at €130, the 2-day Détente cure at €65 and the 1-day Découverte cure at €70. These packages cannot be reserved on arrival and must be booked before departure.

Evening vibes

As the sun drops over the bay, the hotel shifts gear. The international animation team, active throughout the day, transitions to evening shows and themed entertainment, keeping the energy varied across the week. For those who prefer a quieter close to the day, the Moorish Café offers a genuinely atmospheric setting for Turkish coffee, mint tea or a hookah, a slow and authentic way to end an evening in Tunisia.

Who is it for?

Lella Baya is built for families who want a smooth, well-organised stay. The mini club welcomes children aged 4 to 12 every day from 10am to noon and 4:30 to 6pm, with age-appropriate activities. A nursery is available for infants aged 3 months to 2 years, and babysitting can be arranged on request at an extra charge. The children's pool with slides and the mini disco keep younger guests happily occupied. Couples and seniors will find their footing in the thalassotherapy offer, the calm of the private beach and the overall atmosphere, which balances modern comfort with genuine oriental character. The heated indoor pool and the Lellti restaurant keep the hotel functioning well in low season, making it a viable destination well beyond the summer months.

The cherry on top

The one thing that stays with you: dinner at the Lellti restaurant, a sit-down Tunisian feast served once per stay that delivers a genuine taste of local cuisine in a setting that feels a world away from the buffet hall.
