Djerba smells of jasmine, sea salt and sun-warmed white stone. This southern Tunisian island, which Flaubert once described as dusted with gold, has been welcoming travellers for centuries, and the Club Palm Azur has settled naturally along its Aghir shoreline, just a few hours' flight from most European capitals. Days here start with low morning light on the water and end with open-air entertainment, with a full programme in between that invites rather than imposes. That sense of freedom to set your own pace is precisely what makes this resort worth choosing.

Arrival

The drive from Djerba-Zarzis International Airport, approximately 30 kilometres away, winds through olive groves and whitewashed villages, setting the tone for the island long before you reach the hotel. The front desk operates around the clock with a concierge service, and a luggage storage facility means early arrivals can head straight to the pool without waiting for their room. The resort's 391 rooms are divided into Standard Rooms and Sea View Rooms. Both categories measure 26 square metres and come with a furnished terrace or balcony, air conditioning, a mini-fridge, a safe, a flat-screen satellite TV and a bathroom with either a bathtub or shower and a hairdryer. Wi-Fi is available in the rooms. The Sea View Room shares the same layout and amenities as the Standard, with the added bonus of a Mediterranean panorama that turns your morning coffee into something worth lingering over. Some rooms are adapted for guests with reduced mobility, available on request at the time of booking.

Dining, all included

Dining at the Palm Azur revolves around two restaurants with distinct identities. Dolce Vita serves Italian cuisine, generous plates fragrant with basil and tomato that appeal to all ages after a day in the sun. Sidi Bou Saïd takes a different direction entirely, showcasing Tunisian cooking: golden brik pastry, couscous spiced with ras el hanout, grilled fish seasoned with local herbs. This is where the island's culinary soul comes through most clearly. Three bars cover the rest of the day. The Piscine Oasis bar sits at the water's edge, perfect for a cocktail in a swimsuit without leaving the pool area. The Salon Rêve shifts into a more refined atmosphere for the evenings, with creative cocktails in a warm, elegant setting. The Lobby Bar rounds out the trio for informal moments over a glass of wine or a fresh mocktail. We recommend verifying the precise inclusions of your all inclusive package directly with the hotel or your booking platform, as beverage policies, meal times and included services may vary depending on the season and room type booked.

Days by the water

The aquatic offering is one of the resort's strongest assets. Three outdoor freshwater pools are available: a main pool, a relaxation pool and a pool fitted with five water slides that proves consistently popular with younger guests. An indoor heated pool extends the swimming season into the cooler winter months. The solarium, furnished with sun loungers and parasols, provides a quieter alternative to the beach for those who prefer a more organised setting. Pool and beach towels are available under a deposit. Aghir beach is approximately 1.2 kilometres from the hotel, with a reserved area equipped with sun loungers and parasols. Water sports enthusiasts can access activities nearby from May to October, subject to weather conditions: scuba diving, kayaking and windsurfing are all available, at an additional charge. On land, the sports facilities are solid: three floodlit clay tennis courts, a multi-sports court, table tennis, minigolf and a fitness room. A 27-hole golf course is located around 10 kilometres from the hotel, available at an additional cost. Car and bicycle rental can also be arranged directly at the resort.

Evening vibes

The international entertainment programme takes over as the sun goes down, with concerts, live music and shows organised several evenings per week. The animation team keeps the energy consistent without it feeling relentless, and the Salon Rêve naturally becomes the venue of choice for those who prefer a well-made drink to a late-night dance floor. The hobby club runs themed activities several times a week alongside the evening shows, offering an easy way to stay engaged without any obligation to participate.

Who is it for?

The Palm Azur is built with families in mind. The kids' club welcomes children aged 4 to 12 with a daily animation programme, while teenagers between 13 and 17 have their own dedicated schedule several times a week, which is not a given in resorts of this category. The water slide pool and the dedicated children's play area with its own 80 m² pool give parents real breathing room at the main pool. Couples and guests seeking relaxation will also find what they need: the spa and wellness area offers a hammam, sauna, body and facial treatments, massages, hand and foot care and a hair salon, all available at an additional charge. The resort is less suited to travellers looking for an ultra-luxury experience or refined gastronomy, but for a week of sunshine, sea and family downtime on Djerba, it delivers on every essential front.

The cherry on top

The one detail that stands out: the indoor heated pool makes the Palm Azur a genuine off-season option, a rare feature among resorts in this category on Djerba.
